Wide Open Spaces

IMDB rating: 4.70 Plot: WIDE OPEN SPACES is an absurdist comedy about how breaking up with your best friend can be tougher than ditching a fiancee. Filtered through the singular mind of writer Arthur Mathews (FATHER TED), and directed by Tom Hall (BACHELOR’S WALK), the film channels classic double act dramas, from Laurel and Hardy to Withnail and I, combined with a stark visual and thematic sensibility, to create an unforgettable comedic escapade. |

How do I compete against this (Yu-Gi-Oh)?
In the tournament yesterday I ran a new deck I built and it ran pretty well getting 2nd place and beating tier 1 decks like lightsworn and blackwings.
I dueled against the person that got 1st during the tournament and got handed to me. Even though it’s technically not legal it’s an unofficial advanced format tournament.
How the deck basically ran is the frogs would run like I guess a normal frog deck and destroy my set magics and traps and my necrovalley. Then he would either use miracle fusion or polymerization to make elemental hero absolute zero. He also summons Elemental Hero Terra Firma. In our first game he almost had an OTK on me using frogs to clear my field then summoning both Elemental Hero Terra Firma and Absolute Zero tributing Zero for Terra’s effect clearing my monsters leaving me wide open. In that turn he pulled off 7000 damage from a 5500 ATK Terra and a 1500 ATK woodsman.
The deck I played against is a combination of Frogs and Elemental Hero Absolute Zero. I am running Gravekeeper’s, and was to be honest surprised how it did.
I since then the tournament tweaked my deck but would like to hear some tips if I get put against this deck again.
Here is my current deck:
Monsters: (21)
Marshmallon
D.D. Warrior Lady
Exiled Force
Caius The Shadow Monarch x2
Night Assailant
Sangan
Gravekeeper’s Sear Soldier x3
Gravekeeper’s Guard x2
Gravekeeper’s Assailant x2
Gravekeeper’s Chief x2
Gravekeeper’s Commandant x2
Gravekeeper’s Spy x3
Spells:(9)
Necrovalley x3
Book of Moon
Dark Eruption
Giant Trunade
Brain Control
Mystical Space Typhoon
Heavy Storm
Traps: (10)
Magician’s Circle
Bottomless Trap Hole x2
Sakuretsu Armor x2
Royal Oppression x2
Rite of Spirit x2
Call of the Haunted
I don’t have a side deck as I have no idea what to put into it so if anyone could suggest what to put into one that would be great as well, thanks.
Sakuretsu Armor is not a good card. You can only activate it when your opponent declares an attack, and it only destroys one of your opponent’s monsters. Plus, effects like Stardust Dragon can negate it. There are better alternatives for monster removal:
Dimensional Prison
Mirror Force
Smashing Ground
Fissure
Soul Taker
Lightning Vortex
But what I would run in your deck is Allure of Darkness. It will help you speed a bit through the deck and get closer to the cards you need, or draw them.
And when Absolute Powerforce comes out, I suggest these changes:
- Marshmallon
- Night Assailant
- D.D. Warrior Lady
- Exiled Force
- Call of the Haunted (the only times you’ll need are likely when it will conflict with Necrovalley)
+ 3 Gravekeeper’s Descendant
+ 1 Blackwing – Gale the Whirlwind (awesome tuner that helps you get over monsters by halving their atk or tuning to one of your Gravekeeper’s for Arcanite Magician and blowing up the opponent’s field)
+ 1 Rite of Spirit
Extra Deck:
1 Arcanite Magician
1 Stardust Dragon
Side Deck:
2 Light-Imprisoning Mirror
3 Divine Wrath (will help against effects like Absolute Zero and Judgment Dragon, which is one lightsworn that doesn’t affect the graveyard. It can even negate Honest)
2 Trap Hole (stops Blackwings’ initial summon and consequently their whole swarms)
1 Gravekeeper’s Commandant/Terraforming (Lightsworn and Zombies will side spell/trap removal to get rid of Necrovalley, and always having it is crucial in that matchup)
3 Deck Devastation Virus (ruins Frogs, lots of X-Sabers, tuners, and plenty of zombies. This is the frog hurt you’re looking for)
2 Giant Orc (goes with DDV for when you don’t have Necrovalley boosting your gravekeeper’s, and it’s a hard monster to get over)
2 Breaker the Magical Warrior/Dust Tornado (just more spell/trap removal if you need it)
Hope that helps!
